Abolition Of The Passing Minimum In Internal Examinations From 2002-2003.
- After due consideration and detailed discussion, the Council resolved to abolish internal minimum for both theory and practical examinations from the academic year 2002–2003 onwards for all batches. The stipulated minimum of 8 marks out of 25, 18 marks out of 50 for theory papers, and 6 marks out of 15 in practical examinations stands cancelled. As there is no internal minimum, no supplementary examinations will be conducted for internal examinations. However, the student should secure a minimum of 27 marks out of 75 or 35 marks out of 100 marks in all external theory examinations. The aggregate passing minimum in each theory paper (internal and external marks combined) should be 35%, and in practical examinations, a student should secure a minimum of 13 marks out of 35 marks at the Semester-end examinations and an aggregate passing minimum of 18 marks out of 50 (both internal and external practical marks combined).

As per the resolution, it is resolved to waive the minimum marks in internal assessment examinations from the academic year 2002–2003 onwards. The rule will come into force prospectively.
It means the new rule will come into force:
- a) For students admitted in First Semester from 2002–2003 onwards.
- b) For students pursuing their second year course during the academic year 2002–2003 from their third semester onwards.
- c) For students pursuing their third year course during the academic year 2002–2003 from their fifth semester onwards.
- d) For all students seeking readmission in any semester hereafter, from that semester onwards.
- Students who come under this new scheme will have NO INTERNAL SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS.
- This rule does not apply to the examinations conducted prior to June 2002. Therefore, if any student studying Second year or Third year during 2002–2003 failed in any paper of earlier semesters for want of minimum marks in internal examinations, they will be declared to have passed the examination only if they secure the minimum of 8 marks out of 25 in internal assessment for that paper.
- This rule does not apply to students prior to the 2000 batch. Students of the 1999–2000 batch and earlier must take their examinations as per the old scheme only.
Passing Minimum
- Under the new scheme, every student should secure a minimum of 35 marks out of 100, 27 marks out of 75, or 18 marks out of 50 in each theory paper; and 26 marks out of 70, 13 marks out of 35, or 10 marks out of 25 in each practical at the Semester-end examination.
- A student will be declared to have passed the examination in any paper only when he scores a minimum of 35 marks out of 100 in each paper (internal and external marks put together).
- There is no separate minimum for any paper in the internal theory and practicals.
- If any student fails to attend all the examinations of Internal Assessment in any subject, his marks shall be indicated as "0" for internal assessment in that subject, instead of marking him absent.
